I'll be putting this blog on hold for a while - with class, work, playing, etc. it is difficult to maintain these days.
My goal of playing every day has been met: Today is Day 171 of playing every single day. It's gotten to be like brushing my teeth - can't go a day without playing.

July 2009 goals
1. Use July and August as space to work on my technique.
2. Be very careful about what I agree to play, so I don't get into another overcommitment situation.
3. Work on my legato, clean starts and ends of notes, playing beautifully, playing with dynamics.

In a word, slow it down and get it right.
Not too different from January. Slow it down and get it right. I will not play perfectly by the time I die, so let's just try to play well, now.

Simple goal this month: To play everything as well and as beautifully as possible. Slow things down in practice in order to play them well.
Remember that the point of the instrument is to sound beautiful. So, do it.
