I cleaned my slide, oiled my trigger, and I am good to go. My father is coming to this concert, the first time he's seen me perform. Thrill, fun, this makes me happy.
I bought my first trombone on January 28, 2006. I'm a chemist by education and trade but I do IT now. I lived in the Bush when I was a kid and life was very different then & there.
1. Use July and August as space to work on my technique. 2. Be very careful about what I agree to play, so I don't get into another overcommitment situation. 3. Work on my legato, clean starts and ends of notes, playing beautifully, playing with dynamics.
4. Impress Jack when I have my next lesson. :)
May 2009 goals
Work on my low notes.
Improve my tonguing. Clean tonguing. Get away from this smearing between notes.
April 2009 goals
Play less material, practice as much or more, and play my material well. Play it well.
March 2009 goals
G Every Day: Do D-E-F-G-A-G-F-E-D. Long tones in the C-D-E-F neighborhood. Work octaves from top to bottom as well as bottom to top.

February 2009 goals
In a word, slow it down and get it right.
Not too different from January. Slow it down and get it right. I will not play perfectly by the time I die, so let's just try to play well, now.
January 2009 goals
Simple goal this month: To play everything as well and as beautifully as possible. Slow things down in practice in order to play them well.
Remember that the point of the instrument is to sound beautiful. So, do it.
