Just when I was congratulating myself for doing better with tenor and treble clefs, the Shostakovich is in alto clef!
I have not played it yet but it looks playable. After a good warmup in which I practice my high notes and my pedals with SINCERITY, I am going to tackle this new music to make sure I can indeed play it. I am not writing in letter cues this time. We don't perform until February. That is enough time for me to become completely comfortable in alto clef. This is my goal.

July 2009 goals
1. Use July and August as space to work on my technique.
2. Be very careful about what I agree to play, so I don't get into another overcommitment situation.
3. Work on my legato, clean starts and ends of notes, playing beautifully, playing with dynamics.

In a word, slow it down and get it right.
Not too different from January. Slow it down and get it right. I will not play perfectly by the time I die, so let's just try to play well, now.

Simple goal this month: To play everything as well and as beautifully as possible. Slow things down in practice in order to play them well.
